Treatment Modalities

Brain Therapy was developed by Bruno Chikly, MD, DO, LMT. He is the founder of Chikly Health Institute, which holds workshops in Lymph Drainage and Brain Therapy in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia, South America, China, Thailand and Tunisia. Dr. Chikly is the author of "Silent Waves: Theory and Practice of Lymph Drainage Therapy". Cynde has completed all 4 levels of instruction in Brain Therapy through the Chikly Health Institute. She has successfully used Brain Therapy in the treatment of chronic pain related to lumbar radiculopathy, pain resulting from fractures, headaches related to post-concussion syndrome and symptoms related to Lyme's.

Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) consists of gentle manual techniques to improve lymphatic flow in those areas that are congested or demonstrating limited flow. Healthy lymphatic flow is essential for immune function and also for pain-free movement of joints and healthy digestion and detoxification. Lymphatic congestion in the liver can impair the body's natural detoxification process and MLD can help decongest the liver to restore healthy function. MLD is also helpful in cases of lymphedema and is essential in minimizing risk of infection and painful complications. MLD can help facilitate parasympathetic tone to minimize the effects of stress on the body.

Visceral Manipulation (VM): was developed by Jean-Pierre Barral, DO, RPT. TIME magazine named Jean-Pierre Barral "one of the Top Healing Innovators to watch in the new millenium." VM focuses on the internal organs, their fascial environment and the potential influence on the structural and physiological dysfunctions. The underlying source of dysfunction can be far from where pain is experienced. Because of this, the practitioner searches for this compensatory pattern and source. The Barral Institute instructs qualified professionals in VM techniques. Cynde has utilized VM in the treatment of joint pain, back pain, abdominal and pelvic pain.

Neural Manipulation (NM): French Osteopath, Alain Croibier collaborated with Jean-Pierre Barral to develop Neural Manipulation. These techniques were personally developed by Jean-Pierre, combined with Alain's scientific studies. Comparative studies have found NM beneficial for various disorders such as low back pain and sciatica; headaches and migraines; joint pain; digestive disorders; post-operative scar pain; thoracic outlet syndrome; whiplash injuries; sprains and traumatic lesions; concussion and traumatic brain injury. Cynthia has experience treating neck and back pain and headache pain with Neural Manipulation.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST): is a gentle hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the health of the the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Practitioners use a very light touch to release restrictions within the craniosacral system and improve functioning of the central nervous system. Cynde has been practicing CST for more than 20 years and has treated a variety of conditions with this modality.

Therapeutic Exercise: Cynde gravitates toward movement education focused on pain-free movement vs "moving through the pain". She strives toward instructing clients to learn the difference between discomfort related to muscular effort and pain, which is an indicator of biomechanical stress to the joints. Her lifelong study of movement has been influenced by many inspiring teachings, including Feldenkrais, Core Movement Integration, Yoga, Resistance Stretching, Total Motion Release and more.
